Journalists based in Uganda can apply for grants to support investigative stories.

The African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME) is offering grants to support investigative journalism projects aimed at promoting accountability, transparency and the protection of human rights. These grants are designed to assist journalists working on ambitious, high-impact public interest stories.

Eighteen grants will be awarded. Grantees will receive up to UGX2.5 million to cover the costs associated with the investigative project.

The grants can be used to cover costs related to research, fieldwork, interviews, data collection, travel, equipment and any other expenses that will enable journalists to complete their stories to the highest standard.

Grantees will also have access to mentorship from senior journalists within ACME’s network.

The deadline is May 9.
