Looking to expand your journalism toolkit, take on a new beat or receive recognition for your work? Check out these promising courses, fellowships and competitions with deadlines in November. Each is open to journalists worldwide.

Matter International Reporting Fellowship: Deadline Nov. 1

The Matter International Reporting Fellowship is accepting applications for its international reporting fellowship. One writer or team will receive US$10,000 to investigate and report a narrative feature on an issue of global importance or local stories of global interest. Click here for more information.

International Film Festival Rotterdam training program: Deadline Nov. 1

The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) seeks applicants ages 30 and younger for its 2015 training program. The IFFR Trainee Project for Young Film Critics offers journalists a chance to cover a major international film festival from Jan. 22 to 29 in the Netherlands. Chevening Scholarship Program: Deadline Nov. 15

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship program for outstanding scholars with leadership potential in journalism and media, among other professions. The program provides full or partial funding for full-time courses at the postgraduate level in any subject and at any UK university. Click here for more information.

Lucas Dolega Award: Deadline Nov. 15

The Lucas Dolega Award will recognize a freelance photographer who often works in dangerous or difficult circumstances demonstrating dedication to democracy and freedom of information. The winner will receive an endowment of EUR10,000 (US$12,760) and will have their work displayed at an exhibition in Paris. Click here for more information.

New Media Writing Prize: Deadline Nov. 28

The Media School at Bournemouth University is accepting entries for its New Media Writing Prize. NMWP is looking for innovative and interactive storytelling (fiction or nonfiction) written specifically for delivery and reading/viewing on a PC or Mac, the web or a hand-held device such as an iPad or mobile phone. The overall winner will receive GBP1,000 (US$1,607). Click here for more information.
