Journalists and writers from the United States or China can compete for US$10,000 to fund their proposed project.

The East-West Center's Melvin M.S. Goo Writing Fellowship is looking to award US$10,000 in financial support to an individual journalist or writer from the United States or China for a project that will enhance understanding between the two countries. The program is named after Melvin M.S. Goo, a late journalist who led a 34-year career in the United States and Asia.

The selected project must be an original work that focuses on underreported feature topics, and be completed and delivered by the end of 2024.

While the project may be produced in either (or both) English or a Chinese language variety, the applications must be submitted in English.

Interested applicants must be a national or permanent resident of either the United States or China.

Deadline is Oct. 1.
