Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence seeks applicants [Central & South Eastern Europe]

Experienced journalists from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia can apply.

The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) and the Erste Foundation are accepting applications for the Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence. The fellowship supports longform journalism from the Balkans to the Baltic Coast.

The program gives 10 journalists the chance to improve their reporting skills by working in close collaboration with world-class editors. Participating journalists will also receive ongoing mentoring and support from BIRN’s leading regional journalistic network.

Interested applicants must submit a proposal for a reporting project. Proposals must be submitted in English.

The fellowship offers a bursary of EUR3,000. At the end of the program, the first, second and third place best stories will receive EUR3,000, EUR2,000 and EUR1,000, respectively.

The deadline is March 25.
