Scholarships available for data journalism lab [Brazil]

Journalists, media workers and journalism students based in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil can apply for these scholarships.

Data journalism outlet Marco Zero Conteúdo, data platform Instituto Fogo Cruzado and the Catholic University of Pernambuco have scholarships available for a data journalism and data visualization lab on public security in Pernambuco.

Candidates must work at media outlets and submit a pitch on public security and gun violence in Pernambuco.

Participants will receive a BRL1,500 stipend and attend data journalism classes, then have mentoring sessions with Marco Zero Conteúdo editors, so they can work on the stories that were previously pitched. The stories will then be published by Marco Zero Conteúdo and Fogo Cruzado.

There are five scholarships available.

The application deadline is Oct. 29.
