Journalists, activists and experts in data analysis can apply.

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) has launched Open Data Ecuador, an online training program that will run June 14 to July 9.

The training will cover how to access and interpret public data, as well as to process and publish data-driven investigative reports on topics of public interest such as corruption, security, gender equality, immigration and illicit trafficking.

Participants will also learn to use digital tools to enhance journalistic storytelling through data visualization.

The instructor is former ICFJ Knight Fellow Sandra Crucianelli.

Twenty applicants will be selected. Four participants will be eligible for a grant of up to US$3,000 to produce an investigative piece.

Applicants must be Ecuadorians who reside in Ecuador.

The deadline is May 31.
