UN seeks editor [US]
Editors with a minimum of five years of experience in editing, including three years of experience in editing within the United Nations, can apply for a position.
The United Nations is seeking an editor for its office in New York.
Job responsibilities include editing complex or politically sensitive material, normally without revision, to ensure accuracy, clarity and cohesion; carrying out more extensive editing where required, including rewriting, abridging and restructuring texts for greater readability and better logical sequence; and consulting with author departments and carrying out research to clarify ambiguities and rectify substantive errors.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the post advertised, perfect command of English, which must be the candidate's main language, is required, as well as excellent knowledge of at least two other official languages of the United Nations.
