Summer school in Istanbul and Prague seeks applicants

Students who have successfully completed a minimum of two semesters in their journalism, media, communications or other related programs can apply to spend two weeks at a summer program in Prague and Istanbul.

The Bridge program is a professional development program designed for aspiring professionals in journalism, media and related fields. The goal of the Bridge program is to advance knowledge of and access to reporting tools and networks of journalism students during a two-week summer program.

The program features academic coursework, mentoring of students and their research, workshops with experts on digital media, roundtables with journalists and policymakers and visits to local media and news agencies.

The course will take place Aug. 9 to 23. Students will spend Aug. 9 to 16 in Prague and Aug. 16 to 23 in Istanbul.

The chosen candidates will receive a scholarship that covers travel costs, room and board and study materials.

Only students who are citizens of the following countries can apply: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Jordan, Kosovo, Morocco, Romania, Slovakia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States.

Applicants must have excellent spoken and written English skills; previous professional experience is desirable, but not required.

The Bridge program is organized by the Prague Freedom Foundation in cooperation with Zaostreno o.p.s. and ProPublica under the auspices of Faculty of the Social Sciences of Charles University.
