College students from the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará and Amazonas can participate in a free training program to be held in Sao Paulo.
The Grupo Estado, a Brazilian media conglomerate, will hold the second Curso Estado de Jornalismo Esportivo April 1 - 8. The course will prepare students to cover the major sporting events that Brazil will host, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The sessions will feature lectures and lessons by sports journalists, press conferences with athletes and activities in the Grupo Estado newsroom.
Candidates must be college seniors or have graduated in December 2013. English proficiency is also required.
The application deadline is March 11. The selection process will be conducted online.
Participants who live outside São Paulo will receive airfare. Most meals will be provided.
