Science journalism award seeks entries

Journalists who cover science, engineering or medicine can apply for one of four US$20,000 awards.

The Keck Futures Initiative seeks nominations for the 2012 Communication Award.

Entries must be accessible and appeal to a broad, public audience; demonstrate clarity, creativity, originality and accuracy; address issues and/or advances in science, engineering, and/or medicine and cover topics that have an impact on society.

Individuals or teams writing for U.S. outlets in English can submit entries in four categories - books, magazine/newspaper, film/radio/TV and online.

The winners will be honored in October at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The deadline for online submissions is February 10. All supporting materials must be received by February 15.
