Journalists, photographers and photo enthusiasts in Latin America can enter a photo contest that will recognize the best pictures of forests, indigenous and peasant communities, and their traditions and lifestyles related to the environment. Deadline: October 4.

The award ceremony will take place during the World Forestry Congress, scheduled for October 13 to 23 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each participant can submit up to four pictures in any digital or print format. Photos can be analog or digital and produced through any process. Reproductions and hand-colored or photocopied pictures will not be accepted.

The first place winner will receive a Reflex Canon EOS digital camera. The second place will be awarded with a Canon PowerShot compact digital camera, and the third, a Canon Pixma printer. Honorary mentions will receive a diploma.
