Online course to teach hard news journalism
African journalists with basic computer and writing skills can take an online course in hard news journalism through the SA Writers' College in South Africa.
The course covers topics including leads, features, interviewing skills, how to come up with article ideas, and how to pitch stories to editors.
The one-on-one tutoring program, led by journalist Beth Cooper, is available through 10 modules and can be started at any time.
Participants must have access to a computer with e-mail. The cost for the program is ZAR2,995 (about US$280).
