Nominations sought for 2009 International Press Freedom Awards
Deadline:
Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) is seeking nominations for its annual International Press Freedom Awards, which recognize journalists who put their lives at risk to ensure citizens stay informed. The deadline for nominations is April 30.
To be eligible for the awards, applicants must be nominated by an organization or individual. Among the requirements, applicants should: report on human rights issues or other issues; demonstrate a commitment to human rights; and not have won a major press freedom award from another organization.
In 2008, CJFE honored journalists from Sudan and Zimbabwe.
Organizations or individuals wishing to nominate a journalist can go to http://cjfe.org/releases/2009/11032009award.html
