New York Times offers freelance reporting course [Worldwide]

Journalists can learn freelance basics in an online course.

During the five-week course, instructors S. James Snyder and Andrew Collins will teach freelancers how to pitch articles to newspapers, magazines and websites for a living.

Presented by The New York Times Knowledge Network and Gotham Writers' Workshop, the course finale features a weeklong Q&A session with Times editor David Corcoran.

Some topics include generating saleable ideas, writing pitch letters, deciphering rejections and managing the business side of writing.

The class begins March 14 and costs US$249.
