A new media studies lab is now open at the Fiji Institute of Technology (FIT) School of Media Studies, which aims to usher students into the electronic information network, the Web, Internet radio and electronic newspapers.

FIT Deputy Director Josua Mataika says the new lab contains 30 new computers installed with the latest versions of digital media products. The Australian Government donated AU$150,000 (US$119,000) toward the purchase of more equipment for the institute.

More than 100 students have been trained by the FIT school since 2006 and are now working in various media firms around the country.
