New dates announced for Asia-Pacific community radio conference

Journalists that work in the community radio sector throughout Asia-Pacific are invited to a conference on development and governance from February 20 to 23, 2010 in Bangalore, India. Application deadline: December 14.
The conference, under the theme “Community Radio for Sustainable Development and Good Governance,” was originally scheduled for October, but was postponed to encourage turnout.
The event will bring together members of the radio community, including broadcasters, academics, and policy makers, to review and discuss the development of community broadcasting in the region over the past four years. Among topics to be discussed: empowerment of women in the field, community broadcasting in peace cultivation, addressing climate change through community radio.
It is being sponsored by the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC). The fee for AMARC members is US$100. Non-members are charged US$150.
