Narrative journalism contest open [Latin America, Spain]

Journalists ages 35 and younger who have written unpublished narrative journalism stories in Spanish can submit their work.

To promote narrative journalism in Latin America, the Escuela Móvil de Periodismo Portátil and the Universidad de Guadalajara have announced the fourth edition of Las Nuevas Plumas - Concurso de Crónicas Inéditas en Español.

Each author can submit one entry, along with an autobiography that does not exceed 5,000 characters. The maximum length of the story is 20,000 characters, including spaces.

Submissions will be judged based on the narrative quality, the originality of the story and the depth of reporting.

The winning entry will be published by the contest's media sponsors. The author of the winning entry will also be invited to the XXVIII International Book Fair of Guadalajara, and will receive a cash prize of US$2,000.

The submission deadline is Sept. 20.
