Journalists in New Zealand who want to conduct reporting projects about mental health issues can apply for a grant.
The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand seeks to fund projects that will investigate and/or raise awareness about a particular mental health topic, help reduce stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and increase understanding and support for people with experience of mental illness.
This year, the project will commit NZD10,000 to a project that documents the stories of those who have experienced mental illness and their positive connections to family, community and employment.
Applicants must be practicing journalists, photojournalists or freelancers in print, radio or television. Journalism students are also welcome to apply. The contest is open to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 31
