Journalists from the Maghreb countries are invited to submit opinion articles to a competition under the theme "Freedom of Information and the Right to Know: What is the future for the Maghreb countries?" Deadline to apply: March 31.

Submitted texts should be opinion articles presenting a point of view on freedom of information in the Maghreb countries. Articles should have a clear argument, contain facts and/or statistics and challenge readers to reflect.

The author of the winning article will be announced on World Press Freedom Day in Nouakchott, Mauritania, on May 3. The winner will receive a grant of US$3,000 in order to undertake an internship or a course of study in a partner media organization or school of journalism.

The completion is offered by the Rabat office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
