Iranian journalist Yosef Azizi Banitruf was sentenced to five years in jail after he exposed extreme use of force against demonstrators from the Arab community who clashed with security forces in Khuzestan in southwest Iran.

Banitruf, who is a member of the Arab minority living in Iran, was arrested about two years ago and was finally sentenced by the Tehran revolutionary court on August 20, after being accused of “acting against national security.”
