Inter-American workshop for scientific journalism offers fellowships

Journalists interested in improving their skills and knowledge necessary for good medical and health reporting can apply for a fellowship to attend a workshop.

The U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) presents the second annual Cancer Research in the Media: Inter-American Workshop for Scientific Journalism, which will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico, November 7 to 8, 2011.

The application deadline is July 15, 2011.

The Cancer Research in the Media workshop is an opportunity to meet with leading cancer experts as well as highly regarded health and science journalists from both the United States and Latin America.

There is no cost for the workshop. All meals and lodging are provided. Travel costs will also be covered by meeting organizers.

This workshop is made possible by support from and in collaboration with the Universidad de Guadalajara and the United States- Latin American Cancer Research Network (US-LA CRN). The US-LA CRN is made up of partner institutions in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and the United States.
