Essay competition aims to promote freedom in Latin America

Latin American journalists and writers can participate in the essay competition "Caminos de la Libertad," organized by Mexico's Grupo Salinas. Deadline: February 28, 2010.
Essays must be in Spanish, original, and new on the topic of freedom. Preference will be given to works that offer proposals to expand freedom in societies or present cases of success and failure in the implementation of this right.
The winning essays will be published in a book by Fomento Cultural Grupo Salinas. The competition is open to the public and will award four prizes: first place, US$15,000; second place, US$10,000; and third place, US$5,000; as well as a student prize, US$5,000.
