The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) in the US has launched its 59th annual real estate journalism competition.

Entries should have been published or aired in 2008 and focus on topics such as affordable housing, the mortgage crisis, and the business of real estate. They can also feature news and trend analysis on government housing policy, the environment, urban growth, land use investments, construction and design.

The NAREE competition offers cash awards including:

• Best Overall Individual entry award: US$1,500
• Best Overall Freelance Collection: US$500
• Best Overall Young Journalist: $250
