Journalists in Johannesburg can register for a number of short courses in September. The courses are sponsored by the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism.
A course on advanced feature writing will take place September 15 to 17. The facilitator will run participants through a series of writing exercises, case studies and constructive criticism.
For reporters looking to adapt their skills to the Internet, “Subbing for the Web” runs on September 22 and 23. Topics covered will include story packaging, reader demographics, headlines and Internet research.
And for those interested in new media, there are sessions offered on Twitter and social media September 29 and 30.
