National, regional or trade journalists who cover general insurance subjects in the UK can enter a contest.

The British Insurance Brokers' Association seeks entries for its Journalist of the Year Awards that recognize journalists who promote a better understanding and awareness of general insurance issues.

Journalists who have written or broadcast on general insurance subjects from February 1, 2011- February 1, 2012 can enter up to nine categories that each feature a UK£850 prize (about US$1,345) - trade news, trade feature, consumer, business, regional, most promising newcomer, best interview, online and scoop of the year.

Runners-up will receive UK£250 (about US$396).
