Date:

3/15/12 - 4/25/12

Deadline:

2/20/12

Journalists, citizen journalists and civil society actors from Jordan and Lebanon still have time to apply for a two-part course. The deadline passed for candidates from Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, West Bank/Gaza and Yemen.

ICFJ Anywhere and USAID will select 60 participants for a six-week online course on using digital tools for public service reporting. The best 28 students will be invited to two bootcamps in Cairo.

During the online portion, participants will learn reporting through crowdsourcing, visual storytelling techniques, social media basics, online video production and more.

Those chosen for the bootcamp will have access to experts in technology, multimedia and online marketing who will help them create multimedia projects in public service journalism to illustrate the issues that affect ordinary people in their everyday lives.

Two outstanding participants will receive a trip to the United States to meet with journalists, civil society organizations and to spend several days working with and observing U.S. counterparts in an American newsroom.

The deadline to apply is February 20.
