Course in Mexico to teach journalism business models

The Digital Journalism Center in Guadalajara, Mexico, is organizing a course on new business models for journalism that will comprise an online as well as an in-class component.
The online component is scheduled for June 19 to July 30, followed by the in-class section from August 18 to 20 in Guadalajara. The course will provide technical tools for attracting more users and publicity. Participants will learn the commercial side of journalism, including how to make digital media profitable, and will examine business models in Latin America.
Topics include: How to finance quality journalism in digital medi; Identifying your target market; Studying your competition and how to distinguish yourself from it; Writing a marketing pla; Leadership and team management; Writing a business plan.
Among the requirements, applicants must commit the time necessary for the course and have a computer with Internet access.
