Citizen journalists worldwide can apply for a six-month reporting program. This opportunity is not paid.

Looxcie, makers of the first wearable mobile-connected video cam, presents its Citizen Journalist Program designed to offer support to independent reporters and video bloggers and to encourage greater citizen participation in reporting.

Looxcie will select 10 citizen journalists reporting on news at a community or grassroots level and equip them with tools - a hands-free video camera, wide angle lens and live streaming services - to make their reporting and sharing more efficient and effective.

Applications must include at least two short videos, a link to the reporter's main reporting source, a brief explanation of the reporter's goals, a brief bio and a description of the content typically covered by the reporter. Applicants must have an iOS or Android smart phone or tablet to use the Looxcie cam.

All submissions must be in English. The deadline is May 20.
