Business journalists in Malaysia are eligible for this award.

The Malaysia MICE Journalism Award 2012 is accepting applications from journalists who have covered the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibition) business events industry in Malaysia.

Submitted work will be judged based on the depth of coverage, its role in increasing the awareness and understanding of the industry, innovation and creativity, and structure.

The contest is comprised of two categories: the MICE in Malaysia and the MICE in Sarawak. Entries under the MICE in Sarawak Category are open to individuals working for the electronic and print media, though not necessarily based in Sarawak. Works can be in any of the three main languages (English, Bahasa Melayu or Chinese). However, submitted work must highlight the business events industry in Sarawak.

The first-place winner in each category will receive MYR10,000 (about US$3,200) to fund travel, accommodation, association membership and convention registration fees to attend any international journalism convention. The second-and third-place winners in each category will receive MYR500 (about US$160) in cash.

The award is organized jointly by the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB), the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI).

The application deadline is September 5.
