An upcoming broadcast journalism conference in Malta will discuss how the industry should act to ensure it survives the economic crisis and emerges stronger for the future.

The 2009 NewsXchange event, which will take place October 15 and 16, will feature interactive debate and discussion. Sponsors include major news organizations including CNN, Reuters, PBS and Eurovision. Organizers promise attendees will "leave Malta with To Do lists, tools and contacts."

The conference will highlight a "survival guide" for the news industry in coping with challenges such as the global recession, social networks, etc.

Participation fees range from US$500 to $1640.
