Filmmakers from Latin America can participate in this contest.

Al Jazeera’s Viewfinder, in collaboration with DocMonteVideo, is inviting filmmakers from Latin America to submit proposals.

Ten filmmakers will be chosen to participate in a workshop that will take place in Uruguay, where their proposals will be considered for commissioning by the programmers of Witness, Al Jazeera’s documentary program. The network will fully finance the production of up to six documentaries.

Proposals should tell empowering personal stories that give voice to the big issues and the changes taking place in Latin America today. Stories could be about economic equity, artistic expression, family life, social justice, housing and land, migration, environment, health or education.

Al Jazeera will accept proposals for works-in-progress and programs that can be commissioned in the early summer of 2013 and delivered in December, 2013 for broadcast. Proposals for completed projects seeking acquisition and distribution will not be considered

The deadline to submit proposals is February 28.
