Editors, journalists and photographers from community newspapers in South Africa and Namibia are encouraged to enter the annual Sanlam Awards for Community Press competition, which aims to encourage excellence and reward meritorious work in community journalism. Deadline to apply: July 3.
An entry/portfolio can be submitted in English or Afrikaans and should consist of a selection of newspapers, front pages, articles, columns and editorial comments, or photos. Entries must have been published from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009.
Categories include newspapers, front pages, writing and photography. Each entry/portfolio must have a separate entry form. Entrants are allowed to submit entries in multiple categories.
The Forum of Community Journalists (FCJ) runs the competition, under the headship of the Print Media of South Africa (PMSA).
