The 2010 Manship Prize, sponsored by the Louisiana State University School of Mass Communication, recognizes an individual or organization based in the United States that has encouraged and enhanced civic engagement through the innovative use of media, and that has done work in and/or through media to advance citizens’ ability to better understand and respond to challenges in the public arena.
Qualified nominees can be journalists, documentarians, authors, bloggers, website-content providers, academics, organizations, or others; their work may have been at a local, regional, national or international levels.
Nominations (including self-nomination) are due March 17. A winner will be selected and notified in mid-April and the prize will be in fall 2010 where the winner will be expected to deliver a brief public talk.
The prize is $1000; there is no entry fee.
