Initiative provides video journalism fellowships in rural India

Global social media network Video Volunteers is sponsoring a new initiative in India to create community journalism for the poorest areas of the country. The organization will give 60 community activists training in video journalism. Training will begin in mid-January so those interested are encouraged to apply immediately.

Journalists from across the globe interested in foreign correspondence are invited to attend a nine day course in Prague, Czech Republic, from January 3 to 11, 2010. Only six spots remain so those interested are encouraged to submit applications immediately.

Arab documentary filmmakers invited to apply for funding

Documentary filmmakers across the Arab world are invited to apply for funding for documentary film projects in the region. Deadline to apply is December 30. Through the Film Fund, selected documentary filmmakers will receive funding between US$5,000 and US$15,000. The project is being run by Screen Institute Beirut, a nonprofit organization that promotes TV media production.

Argentine university offers long-distance postgraduate course

Journalists and journalism students can register for a post-graduate course that will train participants in digital journalism. The course will begin in April 2010. Registration is ongoing. Organized by Universidad de Belgrano, Buenos Aires, Argentina, the six-month course will focus on the latest topics related to informing via the Internet. Registration costs US$738.

Online Spanish-language course to train journalists in digital tools

Journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean can take an online course entitled "Digital Tools for Journalists," which will take place January 11 to February 21, 2010. Deadline: December 22.
