Emerging as well as established scholars, writers and other professionals who wish to engage in independent study can apply for this residential fellowship.

The American Academy in Berlin is accepting applications for the 2017-2018 academic year. The program aims to promote advanced research in a variety of academic, cultural and political disciplines.

Fellowships are typically awarded for an academic semester or, in some cases, for an entire academic year. Only the Bosch Fellowships in Public Policy may be for shorter stays of six to eight weeks. Applicants must be based permanently in the United States.

Fellows receive round-trip airfare, housing at the Academy, partial board and a stipend of US$5,000 per month.

The deadline is Sept. 30.
