National Press Foundation hosts contests on mental health, energy reporting [US]

Print, broadcast and online journalists can apply for a cash prize.

The National Press Foundation seeks entries for two awards: the Carolyn C. Mattingly Award for Mental Health Reporting and the Thomas L. Stokes Award for Best Energy Writing.

The Carolyn C. Mattingly Award recognizes exemplary journalism that illuminates and advances the understanding of mental health issues and treatments for the illness. The winner of the award receives US$10,000.

The Thomas L. Stokes Award is given annually for the best reporting, analysis or commentary on energy, natural resources and the environment. The winner receives US$2,000. 

Works must have been published or broadcast in 2017.

The deadline is March 16. There is a US$50 entry fee.
