Journalists at any stage of their career from Australia and Indonesia can be nominated for an award.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australia-Indonesia Institute will present the Elizabeth O'Neill Journalism Award to two journalists working with print, broadcast or online media organizations - one Australian living in Australia and one Indonesian living in Indonesia.
Award recipients will spend up to two weeks in an exchange program building cooperation between the two nations in a program tailored to the journalists' expertise.
The award covers airfare, domestic transport, accommodation, visas and meal allowances. Recipients will meet with the other winner's employers, local media organizations, academic institutions, NGOs and more.
Recipients will be selected based on their plans to promote mutual understanding between Australia and Indonesia and report on the visit.
