Mexican journalists and foreign reporters who have worked in Mexico for at least five years can enter this contest.
The contest seeks journalistic research projects on a national agenda topic. Projects must deal with issues that concerned Javier Valdez Cárdenas throughout his career: organized crime, political corruption, victims of violence, power abuse, the role of the armed forces and social deterioration, among others.
The winner will receive up to MXN50,000 to carry out his or her research, plus MXN150,000 in royalties from the publication of the book.
The deadline is April 30.
