The Associated Press seeks a bureau chief to manage a small bureau located in the capital, Hanoi, and lead AP’s editorial strategy and execution in Vietnam.
The AP’s emphasis in Asia is on fast and comprehensive coverage of the top breaking stories, across genres and on producing distinctive and unique enterprise across media formats. They will work closely with a local staffer and freelancers to develop ideas and produce stories and be the point person for maintaining relationships with the Vietnamese government.
The Hanoi bureau chief will report to the Asia-Pacific Editor, based in Bangkok, and be a key member of AP’s leadership team in Asia, with occasional assignments covering top stories in other countries.
Fluency in written and spoken English is required and Vietnamese is a plus. The selected candidate must be able to obtain legal authorization to work in Vietnam if not currently authorized to do so.
