The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is recruiting participants from 12 countries in Latin America for its program on innovation and entrepreneurship, A Digital Path to Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Latin America.
Journalists, digital entrepreneurs and technologists from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru can apply for this program.
The aim of the program is to create media business models that harness the power of digital tools to generate sustainable new revenue. Fellows will visit digital media organizations, receive hands-on training on digital tools, and have the opportunity to workshop their digital media projects with media entrepreneurs. Participants will then be placed in media organizations across the United States for four-week fellowships.
By spending four weeks with a media host organization, fellows will learn about the latest that the digital realm has to offer in the United States as they work to develop their projects. Fellows in the past have been placed with the digital teams of traditional media, digital media startups, and organizations. Hosts in the past have included The Los Angeles Times, Mother Jones, AJ+, Fusion, Splash Media and The Huffington Post. The goal: for fellows to create media business models that harness the power of digital tools to generate sustainable revenue so the fellows can launch digital media projects in their own countries.
This program will also spotlight the United States’ diversity and culture by immersing the fellows in their host communities while they participate in home-stay experiences.
Selection will be based on professional qualifications, relevant experience, leadership potential and commitment to enhancing mutual understanding between the people of their countries. Selected participants must be fluent in English. The program is open to young professionals and emerging leaders, ages 25-40. Please note that only applicants from the 12 eligible countries will be considered: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru. Participants with disabilities will be accommodated during the program and are encouraged to apply.
The deadline to apply is May 20, 2018. Click here to apply.
