IJNet Live: Upcoming Ford International Reporting Fellowships

IJNet | January 09, 2014

If you are a U.S. journalist interested in reporting abroad, bring your questions to our chat about two upcoming international reporting fellowships.

Join us Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 2:00 p.m. (EST) for a one-hour chat about two Ford Foundation-sponsored fellowships Bringing Home the World: International Reporting Fellowship for Minority Journalists and Social Justice Reporting for a Global America: International Reporting Fellowship Program for U.S.-based Journalists.

During the chat, you can pose your questions to ICFJ staffers and two journalists who participated in recent Ford fellowships, Franco Ordoñez and Dana Liebelson.

As a participant in ICFJ’s international reporting fellowship, Liebelson traveled to India in 2013 to report on textile factories that produce many of the clothes Americans wear – but at the cost of the rights and safety of female mill workers.

Ordoñez went to Mexico, where he covered the effect U.S. immigration laws have on an often overlooked population: children.

The fellowships are managed by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). The deadline to apply for these fellowships is Feb. 3.

You can join the chat here or follow along on Twitter with hashtag #icfjglobal.
