Report examines the role of peacekeeping radio in post-conflict countries
A report examining the role of UN-sponsored peacekeeping radio programs in post-conflict countries is now available online.
The report, “Broadcasting in UN Blue: The Unexamined Past and Uncertain Future of Peacekeeping Radio,” reviews the impact of the local news programs, nonpartisan discussion forums, and other programs, and examines the possible effects of the termination of these radio stations when UN Security Council peacekeeping mandates expire.
The report also provides recommendations for the creation of sustainable peacekeeping radio programs in the future.
The report was published by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for International Media Assistance (CIMA), which will host a panel discussion on March 11 to launch the report. For more information about the event, click here.
